The Jewish Central Information Office was founded by Alfred Wiener, a German Jew who worked for the Central Association of German Citizens of Jewish Faith ( Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens ). It consolidated with Sabato Morais Lodge, Number 464, in 1904, and it changed its name to Theodore Herzl Lodge, Number 314. B'nai B'rith's Portland Lodge, Number 416, was founded in 1891, primarily by American-born sons of German Jews. It was especially active in aiding those Jews who were living in Eastern Europe. In 1905, it consolidated with Theodore Herzl Lodge, Number 314. When it consolidated with Oregon Lodge, Number 65, in 1918-1919, it became known as Portland Lodge Number 65.
