The Jewish Central Information Office was founded by Alfred Wiener, a German Jew who worked for the Central Association of German Citizens of Jewish Faith ( Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens ). It consolidated with Sabato Morais Lodge, Number 464, in 1904, and it changed its name to Theodore Herzl Lodge, Number 314.
